I decided to use Kewanee, Illinois as my city for my map because it is where I grew up for a majority of my life. I wanted to keep the map simple because Kewanee is such a small, simple town. I also kept my hand lettering used for the title and streets simple for that reason as well. For my landmarks, I wanted to make them look like symbols for the building/location that they represented. For example, the library landmark has columns with books on top because in Kewanee there are large columns in front of the library entrance. Although I kept everything simple, it was a lot of work to make sure everything had the same style, and it all went together nicely.
